The SSI OW Certification Course is a performance-based course with Digital online learning where you

learn to dive with a dedicated Instructor, simple, safe, and Fun.

The SSI Open Water Course is based on student performance and the student must learn all the required dive skills before certification, including 45+ dive skills including mask skills, out-of-air situations, 25+ hand signals, helping a buddy diver, mastering and using a dive computer to plan and execute dives, learn to turn around points, air monitoring, compass navigation, SMB use and the importance of the buddy system.

At the end of the Open Water Course, students should be autonomous and know how to dive safely, plan dives, and dive without professional supervision with a buddy of the same certification level or higher.

With the SSI Online Digital Learning, the course on average is 3 to 4 days in duration, but can take longer to

fully grasp how to dive safely.

This globally recognized certification program is the best way to begin your lifelong adventure as a certified diver. 

The SSI O/W Diver Course is a Diver Certification Course to a max of 60ft/18m post-certification, and you can dive with a Dive Buddy and without a Dedicated Dive Professional or supervision.

2 - Complete an SSI Diver Profile on the SSI Website

3 - Secure a $75.00 Deposit for materials and receive the Digital learning online

4 - Start the Course online and complete all the required theory before arrival in Roatan.

5 - Arrive and learn to Scuba dive safely and get certified.

What will I learn :

 

• Check out the SSI Open Water Course skills videos below.

• Prior to arrival in Roatan, you'll learn the basic safety guidelines, complete the chapters from the O/W Digital Learning, 

• Complete Knowledge quizzes, and then pass the online Final Exam.

• You'll learn how to plan dives and manage air consumption

• Master basic skills and protocols with 6 confined water skill sessions

• Complete a 100-meter/yard Swim and a Float test. 

• Make 4 O/W Dives to a maximum of 60ft/18m under the direct supervision of an SSI Professional. 

• Learn 45+ Basic skills and go over the scuba equipment you use.

• Learn to dive and gain certification to dive with a Buddy with NO Professional supervision.

 

To sign up for an SSI O/W Diver Course :

• You must be 10 years old or older.

• Answer "No" to all the RSTC Medical Forms or get clearance from a Doctor - see the Form below 

• If under 21 years old, have paperwork co-signed by a parent or guardian.

• Need at least 3 days available for training after all Digital Learning is complete.
