Bad Weather Protocols for Roatan Dive Center
North Shore & Shore Shore

Don't get caught out with booking the wrong Dive Center!
What is unique about Roatan Dive Center is that we have 2 Dive Centers located on each side of Roatan Island, meaning when the weather gets bad, we can dive the opposite side of the island.
And what is unique about Roatan is that it's one of the few places in the world that can offer diving
365 days of the year.
Rainy Season:
The Rainy Season starts around mid-October and usually lasts until March the following year.
The weather can be heavy rain and sunshine, and strong cold fronts that enter the Western Caribbean bringing strong gale-force winds, high seas, and heavy rain.
These cold fronts (aka Northeners) usually come from the West and North of the Island, affecting diving and dive courses on the West Bay, West End, and Sandy Bay area for diving. Meaning no diving is possible, and everyone heads to the South Shore.
And working and diving from the side of the road, no shelter, no bathrooms, but NOT US!
We have a second location, meaning we have the usual Dive Center Facilities, and our divers still enjoy bathrooms, a warm, dry area to change, and off-road parking. Equipment rinsing and care,
equipment storage overnight, and all week.
So no effect on your Dive Courses or Training.
And we can help with transportation; additional costs may be involved.
For many Dive Operators, this means having to dive the South shore with only 2 dives a day available due to logistics and time.
For all our Roatan Dive Center Divers, we would help arrange transport to our Dixon Cove location, and still be able to offer our standard 3 dives a day, and still have the possibility of Night Dives.
And we have the usual Dive Center Facilities, equipment storage, rinse tanks, a private dock, and bathrooms, showers, and access to all our usual dive sites.
And All Our Divers will be able to dive and fulfill their Dive Packages.
And vice versa for the South Shore diving.
Hurricane Season:
Hurricane Season is from June 1st to November 30th.
For Hurricanes, all diving is canceled, and you'll be evacuated from the Island.
Our Staff monitors the weather daily, and we use the following sources:
Mr Weather Man: Brian Shields - https://www.youtube.com/@MrWeatherman
NOAA: SW Caribbean location at https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/MIAOFFNT3.shtml
Windfinder: https://www.windfinder.com/forecast/isla_de_roatan
Roatan Dive Center is NOT responsible at any time for the weather during your vacation, and not
responsible for the underwater visibility, or the marine life!
